One Way Ticket, Part 1

1-800-PLUMBER

27/09/72

Grigori Petrov was a man with a problem. His bosses in the Vory were insistent that he turn up an enforcer and bookie named Peter Orzig. To do this, Grigori turned to two of his best, and most reliable, sources. His old mercenary comrade, Yuri Sturkov, and the ever-unpredictable Parker. He asked only that the bring with them such other persons as they could trust with work in the shadows.

At a cafĂ© in Hampton, Parker and Sturkov met Grigori, along with their compatriots Tristana, Noose, and Potomac; who joined them via Parker’s CleanBot 6. After all pertinent introductions had been made, Grigori explained his situation; the nature of Mr. Orzig’s work and his recent breaches of criminal etiquette. In exchange for the group bringing Peter Orzig in alive, Grigori’s employer will pay five thousand in nuyen. After delicate negotiations, Yuri convinces Grigori to cough up an additional five grand in the event they are able to return Peter’s black book.

While Yuri and Grigori negotiate, Potomac performs what research he can on the Matrix, narrowing down the target’s habits, hangouts, and bounties. Grigori, of course, provides an image of the man, as well as his home address in Hampton. While sharing a bottle of vodka, he even lets slip that the job is being done at the behest of Dimitri Dragov, Tsar of the Crystal Bratva.

With little else to work with, the team decides to investigate Peter’s apartment, in an upscale neighborhood of Pheabus. While scoping the area, Parker notices a plumber’s van across the street from the apartment, with government-issue license plates. Thinking back, she recalls the same company had a van near their meeting with Grigori until Potomac probed at it’s node. A little investigation by Potomac revealed that the van was property of the Commonwealth Bureau of Investigations, an arm of the Commonwealth Troopers.

Quick thinking led the gnome, Tristana, to place a call to Hampton’s Lone Star Emergency Services hotline from a public comm-line. Impersonating the young girl she could be mistaken for, Tristana implicated the plumbing van’s occupants as participants in child molestation. Using the swift and overwhelming Lone Star response as cover, Parker and Yuri made their way to the apartment while Potomac and Noose escalated the confrontation between Lone Star and the Commonwealth’s investigators. One of Noose’s spirits influenced the most irate investigator to start a physical confrontation with the better-equipped Lone Star personnel and Potomac downloaded all the child pornography he could locate to the van’s internal node.

Meanwhile, Parker and Yuri confront Peter’s gargantuan mastiff before picking apart the apartment with Noose’s assistance. By the time they clear out, they’ve learned that Peter has an interest in Occupy Gondor, and have obtained his black book and a few gold coins Orzig had left behind when he cleared out.
